  2. Bootmark this post link. Yeah. I know. The use of Bookmarking services is rather rare and less handy these days but services such as pocket by Firefox browser or Flow by Opera browser is more fun to use and easily accessible to you depending on which browser you use most.

Pocket is the mordern day bookmarking tool that comes built-in with all later Mozila browsers. And Flow is almost to Opera users, what Pocket is to Mozila users.

This is done to ensure we don't have mixed content or confusing responses for those that would ask questions in the comment section.

Okay. We may now proceed.

First, the introduction. What is blogging?

What is A Blog - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

What is Blogging?

Blogging is the act of maintaining a kind of website whose content are presented in reverse chronological order. The content of the website could be only text, mixture of text and pictures, only pictures, only videos or combination of text, pictures and videos. This kind of website is called a blog, weblog or vlog.

Okay. Now, to further breakdown the meaning of the act "Blogging" as seen in the definition from above, I would pick the keywords in the definition and explain them one after another.

The keywords contained in the definition are;

  • Weblog
  • Blog
  • Vlog

If you are like me, you are already wondering what the relationships between the words listed could be. Right?

Below here I have the solution to your puzzles.

  1. What is A Blog?

A blog is any kind of simple website whose content are majorly text and partially pictures and or videos presented in reverse chronological order thus; where newer enteries appear first in the list. The articles being published on a blog are called blog posts or enteries and are otherwise being referred to as the blog content.

Being a simple form of website, a blog has it's own assigned web address hence occupies it's own separate space on the world wide web.

A blog can occupy a subdomain of a website url such as "blog.example.com" and it could also occupy the blank url just like any other website and functions perfectly fine. What configuration is used is solely dependent on you, as a blogger or what your webmasters seem to being the best options for your blog as at that point in time.

  2. Who is a Blogger?

A blogger is the person that undertakes the responsibilties of pushing posts, attending to comments and all other blog administrative activities.

You can decide to be a freelance blogger; working for others or decide to working for yourself thus; on your own personal blog.

A blog is also being referred to as a weblog in some other instances.

  3. What is A Vlog?

A vlog is any kind of simple website whose content are majorly videos and partially text presented in reverse chronological order thus; where newer enteries appear first in the list. Similar to a weblog, the content being published on a vlog are called posts or enteries. A vlog is also called video blog.

  4. Who is A Vlogger?

The person that maintains a vlog or video blog is being referred to as a vlogger. That person uploads the videos, attends to comments and all other management activities on the video blog.

Similar to a blog, you can decide to be a freelance vlogger; thus maintaining the video blog for people and you can decide to maintaining a video blog of your own. In which case, you are still a vlogger.

A vlog can also be referred to as a blog in some other accounts.

Why Should You Own A Blog? To Make Money or Catch Fun?

Have you checked huffington post stats or worth lately? That blog makes over 2 million US dollars monthly. That's right!

And I am sure you have had about TechCrunch as well. These are blogs that have grown to become household names.

Apart from these blogs mentioned, there are hundreds of other blogs that bring five figures in return monthly but I am not going to dive deeper into that list in this post. That's not part of the purpose for which I create this blog post after all.

In any case, this is an important question that is being neglected by most pro bloggers writing about blogging; why should you own a blog? For money or fun?

For most people, they want to blog to make money while for others, it is just a way of catching fun.

But, do you know that blogging is a new kind of sport anyone can do and make really huge money?

Take soccer or hockey as an example. You have heard of C. Ronaldo, Messi and their likes. These are sportsmen entertaining the crowd; catching fun doing what they really love doing whilest making really huge money.

As a blogger, you can create something similar to soccer or hockey in your blog. By this, I don't mean you can turn your blog into a game, rather I mean your blog could be entertaining; something you catch fun doing and still earn you really huge money.

...do you know that blogging is a new kind of sport anyone can do and make really huge money?

In a nutshell, if you plan to own a blog at all; plan to make really good money from it. That way, it is more fun than catching just fun blogging. Besides, these are goals that can be easily and tactically achieved.

However, before you conclude; to make achieving these goals easier on you, you should consider providing answers to these questions on your own:

  • How much money you wish to make blogging?
  • How soon you wish to start making money?
  • On what basis you wish that the money keeps coming?
  • And for how long; short term or long term?

  1. How much money you wish to make blogging - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

How much money you wish to make blogging?

If you are starting your own blog and you are confronted with the puzzling decision of needing to decide how much money you wish to make blogging, this should not be a puzzle in the first place.

You just come up with an amount, say $500 per month.

$500 per month could be too small but really, to start with, $500 per month is okay. In fact, that could be too high for many fresh bloggers.

What's important is you need to set an amount you can realistically achieve within a set period of time and then adjust the figure by and by as you achieve each set goal.

    Benefits of making this decision

    • It helps you find added reasons to blog.
    • It helps you maintain your focus.
    • It helps you adjust as needed and as at when necessary
    • It helps you measure your achievements and in scaling your work on the blog.
    • You'll have accurate understanding of your breaking and yielding points.

  2. How soon you wish to start making money blogging - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

How soon you wish to start making momey from your blog

No doubts, to making money off the blogs is the core reason for the existence of many blogs.

But taking how soon you wish to start making money from your blog into account would help you make smarter decisions.

For instance; if you plan to start getting returns, making money from your blog the very first month you established the blog, that's very possible but you must have certain amount of money set aside purposefully for that blog.

And in that case, you may have to focus more on some CPC channels like Google AdSense that pays publishers monthly or selling your own products directly from your blog rather than using other channels like affiliate marketing whose payments do not arrive until after about 45 to 60 days and that's if you actually do the job the right ways.

Although, depending on which way you swing; such a blog may not last especially when you are not using the white-hat methods.

In any case, it is a good idea to decide when or how soon you wish to start making money from your blog.

    My Recommendations:

    • Spend the entire first month on getting your blog ready. Something like simple and friendly design for the blog, SEO and the likes.
    • Also in your first month, get some posts that would last your blog for at least, two months ready. You may not publish post daily but make sure you post at least two blog posts weekly.
    • By your blog's second month, when hopefully you are expected to have had enough interesting blog posts; spend more time on attracting readers to your blog. Do this as frequent as possible. If you have enough funds, you may use facebook, twitter or Google ads for your blog. If you do not have surplus budget that can cover that; Facebook groups, twitter handles, Telegram and other similar social channels can give your blog hundreds if not thousands of free traffic. Try to put them to use.
    • Now, you may scout for earnings mediums. In your blog's third month, you can begin to scout for which channels is best suited for your blog. Remember to use mediums that have minimal traffic share on your blog - more notes on this later.
    • By the fourth month, your blog should now be matured enough to bringing returns. Validate your decision, go ahead and implement. Enroll your blog for AdSense, some affiliate sites, introduce your own products etc. Just keep it to a minimal number at the start.

Benefits of Deciding When to Start Making Money from your Blog

    • You'll be able to properly manage your budgets for the blog. This way, your blog should be able to start fending for itself and bringing returns before you exhaust your budgets.
    • This decision helps you decide which revenue opportunities to focus more. For example; if 3 months is your target, then Affiliate Marketing is definitely not suitable for you as a fresh blogger. However; freelance services or AdSense could fit well in that plan.

  3. Recurring revenue or fixed income - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

On what basis you wish that the money keep coming?

Are you setting up a blog that would give you a recurring income or one that gives you a nearly fixed income you recieve on monthly basis?

Whichever of the options you desire, you can make it happen with your blog. You can even decide to have both recurring revenues that you'd be receiving daily, weekly or nearly anytime; even when you'd be sleeping. And at the same time, the nearly fixed incomes that arrive on monthly basis can also keep coming. - all these can happen when you make the right decisions.

For instance; Google AdSense and other similar CPC services can give you nearly fixed monthly income. Partner programs such as affiliate programs including sales of your own products, freelance jobs etc can make you recurring revenues.

All you need to do is prepare your blog for the opportunities you wished for and you would see them coming your way.

  4. how long you want the blog producing revenues - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

For how long you want the blog producing revenues?

Do you wish to setup a blog that would fetch you revenues for a short period of time for like say; 3 months, 6 months... or you are looking to create a blog that would keep adding values and bringing revenues for a longer period of time that you cannot see it ending anytime soon?

Whichever you choose, you can achieve both. You can create the next TechCrunch or Huffington Post, if you really want to make that happen.

And yes. Sometimes, it is possible that you wish to setup an extra revenue source; something that would be giving you some returns in revenue for a short period of time. - such is possible with a blog.

An instance of such is when you setup a blog, secure an AdSense account already linked to a domain which would eventually become your blog. You can slap just any content on it, promote the blog via any means that can give you really huge traffic - that way, you can be making around $150 to $1,000 or more monthly but I bet you, that won't last more than 3 months before Google uncovers your little secretes and sanctions your blog and even disable your AdSense account.

Apart from that, there are other avanues you can channel through your blog and that would produce reasonable income in a shortwhile and for a short period of time.

So, what kind of blog would you like to create? One that keeps adding values and giving returns in revenues or one that would last only for a short while?

It's up to you to decide.

But Whichever your options, I would gladly be your guide.

Now, hopefully, you have understood the lessons and noted down your keypoints in the discussions from above.

Now is the time to proceed to the next discussion which is: who can blog successfully?

Who Can Blog Successfully - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

So, Who Can Blog Successfully?

You. Me. Virtually anyone with access to the internet on a PC or at the very least, a smartphone can blog successfully. And in the case of vloggers; video bloggers, basic knowledge of raw video editing, usage and understading of computer programs for video and image manipulation is a plus.

Additionally, video bloggers ought to be a fluent speaker of any language such vlogger chooses.

Yes. Simple as that!

You basically do not need more than that to become a successful blogger however, either of time or money are essential factors for successful bloggers. If you do not have both time and money in your favour as a blogger; you must have either of them.

When I say time and money, relax! I don't mean a whole lot of both. As little as one hour of your time daily is okay for the start. And as little as $50 to $70 USD is okay to pull your blog online.

As little as one hour of your time daily is okay for the start. And as little as $50 to $70 USD is okay to pull your blog online.

Okay. Now you know you are qualified to become a successful blogger and you are eager to create your first blog or you are willing to repurpose your existing blog and set it on the right path to success. Yeah?

Okay. How can you create a blog that would stand the tests of time? A successful blog.

Creating your First Successful Blog - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

Creating your First Successful Blog

Before I dive deeper into this chapter, I ought to say this: "this is the aspect of blogging that gets so many bloggers confused, creating a successful blog.".

Therefore; because I need you to get this aspect straight and once and for all, I need you to:

  1. Stay calm and pay closer attention to this chapter.
  2. Jot down every single keypoint you encounter in this chapter.
  3. If you can, read this chapter over again. At least, twice.
  4. Lastly, ensure you apply the lessons you would have acquired from this chapter in your blog.

Okay. Shall I proceed now?

Good. Let's go.

You probably have seen some blogs so successful and you wonder how they have come to be so successful. Huh?

Well, here is the gist: "many blogs were not prepared for the success that met them because the respective bloggers are unprepared either." - and as a fellow blogger, that's your strenght. You can use their weaknesses to your advantage.

You ask how?

Good question!

Contrary to what you may have had in mind though, the answer is simple. To use their weaknesses to your advantage; you just have to be prepared for success!

I expect that you'll ask "how?" again and below here I have your answers.

To prepare yourself as a successful blogger, you must be prepared to prepare your blog for success. - even for fresh bloggers, that's like the easiest thing to do.

Although some bloggers prepare their blog for the success from the on-set, not many bloggers did that and that's the reason you see many blogs abandoned or some swaying from their actual course.

Actually, if you wish to create a blog that would last only for a shortwhile, you can decide to start the blog anyhow you want. But if you are looking to create a blog you can lean on for a really long time, you really need to plan and prepare it.

How to Create A successful Blog

To make a successful blog, three factors are of a crucial demand. These factors are:

  1. Your ability to identify your skills.
  2. Your budget. Minimal? Good. Huge? Better!
  3. Your time. The most important factor if maximized.

These three factors listed from above encompasses a few other subfactors. The details are further discussed below.

  1. Your Skills: using your skills as a factor to help create a successful blog

    1. identify your skills - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

      identify your skills

As a person, you must have a few skills. Skills are not necessarily those learned. It could be your naturally gifted skills.

      You could be;

      • a brilliant writer...
      • a good speaker...
      • a fabulous artist...

These are skills anyone could be naturally be endowed with. And the good thing is; the list is endless.

      Speaking of conventional skills, you could be;

      • a fantastic programmer...
      • a gifted fashion designer...
      • a good cook...

Think of any skills, naturally gifted or learned. You must have one or a few of them in you.

      NOTE:

Any field of life in which you have indepth knowledge of could be regarded as your skill, as far as blogging is concerned.

An example of such is someone who has passion for cars and knows alot about cars... the best wheels, finest designs, the best cars most suited for certain occasions, the next models to make the hottest waves etc...

...these ideas cannot escape someone who has passion for cars.

    2. make your skills the subject matter for your blog - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

make your skills the subject matter for your blog

Now that you have identified your skills, the next move is to make your skills the subject matter of your blog.

      How?

Ensure your blog focuses and discusses subjects and topics that are directly or indirectly related and connected to your skills.

Why Make your Skills the Subject-matter of your Blog?
      1. For comfortability and flexibility

If your blog focuses a niche you are most familiar with or which you know really much about, you would find it really comfortable navigating that niche.

Remember the idea of "...new kind of sport anyone can do and make really huge money"? Blogging would only be a new kind of sport to you if you start off in a niche you are really versatile at otherwise; your blog may never see the light of the day.

      2. For Durability

Most blogs are abandoned when they fail to gaining meaningful traffic which would eventually yeild meaningful returns both in money and credibility. But most bloggers fail to realize that the origin of such failures is thier inability to producing rich original contents for a long time.

        Let me give you an instance;

Let's assume you are a good cook. You can focus your blog on foods and delicacies.

        And under foods and delicacies, you would be having subjects similar to;

        • Chineese breads and other edibles
        • Nigerian foods and delicacies
        • Continental foods and delicacies
        • French cuisines and dishes
        • The best kitchen utensils
        • etc...

The list could be endless! And the topics under each subject is definitely too numerous to count.

So, the end result; your blog would become a source for really fascinating headlines in that niche for a really long time to come. - and that's a win for you and your blog!

    3. decide what content type you would be focusing - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

decide what content type you would be focusing

Do you think you are more comfortable posting mojorly video content including how-to video tutorials on your blog? Or, you are more equiped with posting text contents with accompanying pictures and or illustrated graphics?

And if you are that inclusive, you can decide to using both rich videos and text contents. - the more, the better the outcome in that case.

Whichever option you favour, you can always adjust this as your blog progresses, and that with zero negative impacts on your blog or yourself.

But, ideally, you should start with the content type that you would be more consistent at producing.

      Here is an instance;
if as a fresh blogger starting up in the automobile niche, you would be having difficulties at producing and uploading automobile related video content in your blog; instead of hindering your blog posts consistencies, focus text content type until you are able to comfortably push videos in your blog.

    4. always prepare quality contents for your readers - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

always prepare quality contents for your readers

As it is, the most important thing that gives your blog the love and attention it deserves is the content you publish in the blog.

As a result, give nothing but quality and rich content for your readers.

      How?

Let's suppose your blog is a news blog, ensure you always publish detailed genuine blog posts. If your blog is a how-to styled blog, your blog posts should always present solutions to how to do this or that in a more detailed and straight-forward yet simpler ways.

In a more simpler statement; quality blog posts are those blog posts that satistfy the curiosity of your blog readers and followers.

...quality blog posts are those blog posts that satistfy the curiosity of your blog readers and followers.

    5. optimize your blog posts for SEO - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

optimize your blog posts for SEO. always.

SEO is the short term for search engine optimization.

In a more simpler term, SEO is the effort you make that gives a single blog post the value of a thousand blog posts.

      How so?

Because SEO is like marketing your blog or a specific blog post to the search engines and when you do that properly, the rewards are always more traffic, better conversions and perhaps; increase in sales.

      But why?

Because nearly everybody relies on the search engines to search and find any imformation such persons need these days.

Therefore, if you are able to properly market a particular blog post to the search engines such that that particular blog post gains either of the first three spots on Google's SERPs' first page for some keywords, especially if those keywords are popular ones; that blog post would bring thousands of traffic to your blog daily or weekly depending on the keywords' popularity for a particular period of time.

When a blog post "A" brings your blog more traffic in a day than a thousand other posts "a, b, c, d, e..." could bring the same blog any day, the blog post "A" is worth more than the values of blog posts "a, b, c, d, e..." combined.

      Yes. It is actually possible to make a single blog post worth the value of a thousand blog posts. However, to understand how that could be made possible, you need to first understand a few basic terms which are;

      • Search engine
      • Search engine optimization
      1. What is Search Engine?

Search engine refers to any of the internet's answer machines. Google, Bing, Yahoo, NetScape etc. These answer machines exist to discover, understand, and organize the internet's content in order that such may offer the most relevant results to the questions internet users ask through that particular answer machine say; Google.

      2. What is Search Engine Optimization?

Search Engine Optimization is the act of making your blog as a whole or a single blog post friendly for this search engines to discover, understand and organize in order that such blog or blog post may be offered as answer to queries submitted on the search engines platform.

Okay. Now, I believe you now have an idea of what search engines are and their primary purposes.

But, do you know and understand what search engine optimization is?

I don't think so. Because search engine optimization entails far more than what had been revealed in my simple definition of the term provided from above.

Although, in order not to create confusions, I would not discuss search engine optimization in greater detail here but I would offer you a more simpler and understandable narrative of the term below here:

Okay. To optimize your blog or blog post; you need to understand the three stages involved before the answer machines which are also known as search engines could offer answers to the internet users.

      The stages are:

      • search engines discover your blog - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

Discover: the search engines first discover the urls (blogs and websites, PDF documents, image files etc) on the internet. - you can directly influence the process at this stage.

      • search engines try to Understand your blog content - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

Understand: the search engines learn about the content of the blogs and websites that have been discovered on the internet then ensure what was learnt about the content is understood. - again, you can directly influence the process at this stage.

      • search engines organize discovered blog contents - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

Organize: the search engines organize each blog's and website's content by their importance by systemically putting the most important webpage or document first and then the next, and then the next... - you cannot directly influence the process at this stage.

The Process to Optimitize your Blog for Better Visibility in Search Engines - In Simple Terms

      1. make your blog discoverable by search engines - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

make your blog discoverable by search engines

When you create your blog, to make discovering your blog by the search engines faster and quicker, you should submit your blog url to the search engines via their respective web url submission page. You can submit your blog url to Google from here and Bing from here.

      2. make your blog more understandable by the search engines

This is where it gets more interesting!

To make your blog more understandable by the search engines, there are a number of things you need to take really good care of, both within your blog post body, your blog template (theme) and outside your blog.

These things must be taken care of because these search engines need these info to organize your blog or blog content as against your blog competitors competing for the same keywords on the internet.

The more information about your blog the search engines are able to get, the better priorities your blog is accorded by the search engines.

To really optimize your blog and or blog post for a better visibility on the internet through the search engines, all your blog html tags such as the images, headings, links and others must be given appropriate priorities in your blog optimization efforts.

For a detailed lessons on how to rank your blog high in search engines and for any keywords, I would recommend that you check my tutorials linked from below:

make posting to your blog a regular thing

Lastly in this section, ensure you make posting to your blog a regular thing.

This, I think is self explanatory. Right?

      Okay.

  2. Your Budgets: using your budgets as a tool to create a successful blog - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

Your Budgets: using your budgets as a tool to create a successful blog

To setup a blog, you need money.

At least, if you really mean business and you are serious about the blog; you'll know you would be needing money.

But regardless of the size of your budget for your blog, meager or huge; what's important is how you allocate and spend the funds.

The amount of money you set aside for the purpose of keeping your blog running and fully functional for a period of time is what I refer to as your budget.

How does your budget help prepare your blog for success?

For a fresh blogger, it is important that you design and have a budget. Even if you are the latest millionair in town, having an accurately designed budget for your blog would most likely push your wealth forward with perhaps, a few more millions rather than bringing it downward.

Meanwhile, to answer the question, a blog's well-designed budget would at the least; benefit you in these two ways:

    • Allows you push for the right plans

    • Helps you spend only on what's necessary

How your Budget Helps you Create A Successful Blog

    1. allows you push for the right plans - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging
allows you push for the right plans

A good example where this applies is when most fresh bloggers decide on which CMS is to be used for their blog.

If you have decided to setup a blog, one of the first puzzles you'd have to solve is deciding on which platform to host your blog.

Of course, before getting to this level, you must have resolved on which niche to focus, which content type you'd prefer, which domain to use... and then; this: which blogging platform should you use?

Deciding on which platform to host your blog would not be a puzzle at all if you already have a budget prepared for the blog.

      Why?

Because your budget already presents the answers!

      Here is an instance;

Let's assume you have $50 USD budgeted for your blog for a whole year.

Below here is a table containing the list of some of the mandatory expenses per four assumed options available to you.

Blogspot Hosted WordPress Managed WordPress Self-hosted WordPress
Hosting Monthly Yearly Monthly Yearly Monthly Yearly Monthly Yearly
      Nah Nah Nah Nah 1 12 2.50 36
Domain 12 - 75 (depending on the TLD)
      Theme 5 - 18 (one-time payment) 30 - 70 (one-time payment)
      Totals/year $17 USD $30 USD $54 USD $78 USD
      • ***the figure in the totals is the sum of the cost prices for hosting, domain and theme (templates).

      • ***Only the cheapest prices (in the market) for the options in the table are calculated.

Now, from the table above, you certainly can tell which option(s) is suitable for your budget.

And that's just one of the instances where your budget can come into play as far as helping you push for the right plans is concerned.

    2. helps you spend only on what's necessary - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging
helps you spend only on what's necessary

Most fresh bloggers, especially those that have no specific budget planned for their blog, incur unnecessary expenses mostly on unnecessary things or on things that are necessary but unripe for that particular time.

An appropriate budget would help you to a lenght, avoid such mistakes so that instead of spending on optin monster useful for capturing subscribers first, you would concentrate on winning reasonable returning traffic by spending on Google AdWords, Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads or using simple content marketing strategies that would cost you much less with much better results in the first place.

If the trial versions of any such products or services is available, it's okay to try them out, but it is only best to put the horse before the cart rather than the other way round.

    3. other ways where properly managed budget helps you create a successful blog include:
      • It helps your blog stay longer afloat. Funds unavailability is another reason most blogs are shutdown prematurely.

      • Properly managed budget helps you monitor the growth of your blog.

      • Well-designed budget helps you know what else is needed for your blog and when such is or should be needed.

  3. Your Time: using your time as a tool to creating a successful blog - From Creating Blog to Making Real Money Blogging

Your Time: using your time as a tool to creating a successful blog

If you have being following this section; "creating your first successful blog" closely, you will realize this is the third essential factor you can use to prepare your blog for success.

To most fresh bloggers, time does not really make any difference whereas, in actual facts; good timing makes bringing your blog to the limelight happen in a breeze.

There are a number of ways where time can influence your blogging activities. Here, I would be revealing to you some of these ways and the respective best approaches.

Generally, there are three ways in which time can come into play:

    • Your devotion for the blog
    • When to publish on your blog
    • What to publish on your blog

how proper timing can help you create a successful blog

    1. your devotion: how much time you allocate for the blog daily, weekly or monthly

An hour daily or ten hours in a week? How much time can you devote for your blog?

You must have being hearing about some full-time bloggers earning between five to six figures from their blog monthly. They do full-time because either their blog is ripe for it or that blogger himself is ripe for it.

      Who is A Full-time Blogger?

A full-time blogger is one who owns a blog and sees the blog as a career hence makes himself available for the blog directly or indirectly at all times all day.

A blogger may be ripe to be a full-time blogger if such blogger has sufficient funding ready and available for the blog for a long time. And a blog could be ripe for or deserve your full-time if such blog already brings enough returns (in cash) that any such blogger could depend on for subsistence.

In any case, as a fresh blogger, it is not a good recommendation that you dedicate your full-time for any blog in its first year. A few hours daily is okay.

While you may not like that, the hard truth is; most blogs do not give any reasonable returns (in cash) in their first year and you really do need money to survive and to keep the blog itself alive and growing.

So, if your budget for the blog cannot cover for massive content marketing, link building, adverts and content outsourcing which certainly could grow your blog really fast in your blogs's first few months; do not dedicate your full-time for the blog because their is no guarantee that blog would produce any reasonable returns as of yet.

Instead, spend most of your time on other jobs or works that produces your daily bread and routinely work on your blog before going to work or when you return from work.

My recommendations on your blog daily routine:
      1. make working on your blog a daily routine

        Persistence is the key.

For fresh blogs, a few hours daily is okay. Depending on how much time you can spare each day, from an hour to two hours is okay. And if you can do more, fine. Just don't be obsessed with your blog. Many fresh bloggers had and for a number of reasons, that'd be a big mistake.

      2. tackle a few problems each day

Especially with fresh blogs, you'll always have this or that thing that you don't like about the blog or that you simply want to improve on, just know that you cannot have everything fixed in a single day!

To make the best use of your time, resolve at least, an issue on your blog in each day. It could be a new post you want to prepare, it could be something about your blog design. It could be anything.

Do this until you'll have no more or much less issues to tackle on your blog except observing your blog's progresses.

      3. make posting an everyday thing

I get it. If you cannot post on the blog daily, every two or three days posting is okay.

Especially for fresh blogs, regular posting is a must. To ease the burden on you, most popular blogging CMS has schedule posting feature which allows you to publish a post in advance. Make good use of that feature.

      4. repost your blog posts on social media daily

One of the best channels any fresh blog can use to gain the attention it deserves is social media channels.

Just ensure you post on these social chanels at the right time.

And the right time to post on social channels like Facebook and Twitter is when most of their users are active online. You can use services like hootsuite or buffer! or any other similar services. These services save your post in their server and automacally push your posts at the best time, when that post would receive the most attention from each social channel.

Well, the point is; expose that post to as many people as possible! Right?

      5. scout for broken links and amend

The best time to prevent essential broken links is your blog's earlier days.

Broken links mostly end up in error 404 and that contributes largely to many blogs having increase in bouce rate.

You don't want that to happen! Because bouce rate can easily slash your blog traffic into two equal halves (or worst) and send the other half away from your blog to the next competing blog.

So, in your daily routine, one of those things you should be doing is tracking your blog broken links records and making necessary ammendments so that you may later have no or much lesser internal broken links in your blog.

Finally, you have arrived at the end of the important section; "creating your first successful blog!

It is my believe that you understand all that's discussed. Right?

Meanwhile, I would assume you still have some questions to ask. You can note down your questions and push them over via the comment box.

But before that, I would need you to read through to the end.

As of today, Google Adsense is by far the most popular method through which bloggers monetize their blog hence make money blogging. Not just blogs, any web properties such as mobile applications, websites, PC softwares and the likes are monetized with Google Adsense.

But because Google Adsense is the most popular means of monetizing your blog does not make it the best way through which you can make money from your blog.

There are many things which include your methodolody and approach towards blogging, your niche, your knowledge of the AdSense program itself among a host of other things that would determine if Google AdSense could become the best channel through which you can make money from your blog or not.

By and by, Google Adsense is an easy way to make money from your blog as all you need to do, following prior simple enrollment and approval (into the Google AdSense program) processes, is add some scripts from Google to your blog and start displaying ads.

    What is Google Adsense?

Google AdSense is a program that can be referred to or serving as an intermediary mediating between advertisers and publishers; where publishers are bloggers, websites owners and other individuals or entities on whose property such as blog or websites; adverts are displayed by Google through Google AdSense. And advertisers are the individuals or entities that pay to Google certain amount of money to displaying adverts on Google AdSense publishers properties through the Google AdWords platform.

Meanwhile, because Google AdSense is a CPC program, Googleogle AdSense publishers get paid certain amount of money every time a user clicks on every single ads being displayed or served on their property.

    What is CPC?

CPC is an abbreviation for “cost per click”. Hence, CPC in this regard, is a kind of program that pays participants based on the number of clicks recorded rather than the number of views.

The costcost per click is set by the advertiser which is in contrast to CPM ads program, where you’re paid for ad views instead of clicks. CPM means “cost per thousand impressions,” where M is the roman numeral for 1,000.

This detailed tutorial explains how to get Google AdSense approval for your domain and this is where you can learn how to optimize your blog for improved Google AdSense earnings.

  2. Make Money from your Blog Using Affiliate Marketing - 14 Easy Ways to Start Making Money from your Blog

Make Money from your Blog Using Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing may likely not be the easiest ways through which you can be making money from your blog especially for fresh bloggers or fresh affiliate marketers, but it is definitely the easiest way through which you can be earning five figures (in dollars) from your blog monthly.

And the most beautiful part of it is that it is much less intrusive and has very minimal trafficffic share.

So, just what is affiliate marketing? You ask?

    What is Affiliate Marketing?

In simple term, affiliate marketing is when you recommend a product or service to your audience using special tracking links, and then get a referral commission every time someone buys after clicking your affiliate link.

So, based on that simple definition, if you are interested in getting started with affiliate marketing, you should know you would be needing to start by thinking about the products you already use that your readers may be interested in as well.

  3. Make Money from your Blog By Selling AdSpace Directly - 14 Easy Ways to Start Making Money from your Blog

Make Money from your Blog By Selling AdSpace Directly

Similar to Google AdSense, you can sell ads spaces on your blog directly and make tons of money from so doing.

If you ask why sell adspace directly when I can easily enrol with Google AdSense and have Google take care of that for me? Well, you are right except that you make more money when you opt for selling ads spaces directly on your blog.

How so? At least for these two main reasons, you'll make more money from your blog by selling ads spaces directly.

    • No One to Share your Revenue with

Directly selling banner ad space on your blog is especially more lucrative because instead of having to rely on an intermediary who takes a cut of the money, you negotiate the price and terms on your own.

    • You Charge Flat Fee for Ads Placement

If you still remember, we already talked about the difference between CPC and CPM ads, where you are paid per click or per thousand views. While you could use either of those models for selling banner ads space directly too, most bloggers charge a flat rate instead. Charging a flat rate is easier than keeping track of views or clicks.

Meanwhile, it should still be noted that directly selling ads space requires more efforts and work to manage than using Google AdSense because you would have to negotiate the pricing, come up with an agreement and terms, and take care of administrative work like invoicing among other tasks which for most bloggers; are tasky tasks. Whereas with Google AdSense, all you would ever have to do is adding a bit of code to your blog template source and you are ready to go.

If you have a few minutes, I would recommend that you check this page where we talk about how to start selling ads space directly from your blog.

Questions and Answers Under "Ways to Make Money Blogging" Section

With so many options already given, I am sure you must have had a few questions or perhaps, too many questions to ask.

Well, you are in safe hands. You can go ahead and ask at the comments section here.

As a blogger myself, and who is currently utilizing at least, eleven of the options that made it to the list in the "14 ways to make money Blogging" provided from above, you can be sure that I have got alot to say about making money blogging.

Meanwhile, below here I have contained a few of the most frequently asked questions and their respective answers appended just below each question.

  1. How much money can I make monthly blogging?

Frankly speaking, how much money you can make monthly blogging depends on a few factors which include your focused niche, monetization methods, how much effort you put in, how much money you are willing to invest in it, how you spend the money budgeted for your blog on the blog and more importantly; the time you are willing to invest and how you spend the time on it.

While many successful bloggers make six to seven figure incomes. To be honest, many beginner bloggers lose interest and give up quickly.

With that said, to sum it all up; you will be making money based on how much traffic you are able to pull to the blog and the quality of that traffic.

  2. Can my blog start fetching me some serious money the first month I start?

Maybe. It's "maybe" because your blog can actually start fetching you some serious money the first month you established the blog provided you also have some serious money budgeted for the blog and that with good solid plan for the budget. Otherwise, forget your first month. Even your blog third month is less likely. But with consistent hardwork, good work plan and timing, six to eight month is guaranteed for most bloggers.

Meanwhile, in case you are not aware of this; to making money online is not a ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme but unless you are going to use some black-hat strategies, that which won't even last long.

If you would make some serious money by blogging, then you will have to work hard and invest a lot of your time and some money into it.

Or, a lot of your money and a few of your time; this is if you have got the money to invest and some really trusted people (bloggers) you would be working with.

To sum it all up, there is no easy way to tell you how soon you would start making money by blogging. Some bloggers start making small amounts soon after starting their blogs. Others struggle to get their blogs to take off.

However, if you continuously work smarter and stick to a planned strategy you are most likely to see encouraging results very early on.

  3. Which monetization methods are best for my blog?

Because blogging is as diverse as the world itself, there is no way to say categorically, which blog monetization methods would work best for your blog. With that said, the best monetization method for your blog can only be determined by your blog niche.

Let us assume you run a blog about phone specifications, then the combination of affiliate marketing, advertisements, sponsored posting and paid reviews may all work well for your blog.

The tool-tip here is; focus on offering useful, quality content that your users will find helpful and soon enough, you would find money knocking at your door through your blog at all times.

  4. Can I have all the monetization methods in the list in one blog?

Yes. You can but I would not recommend that you do that. Why? Because that would be sending wrong signals to your audiences and as a result of the wrong signals, you may soon find your loyal followers and readers vanished from your blog.

And that's a very bad thing for any blog because the success of any blogs comes forth from the volume of audiences that blog is able to pull.

So, for any reasons, never do anything that would leave your audiences on their toes away from your blog.

That includes editing the blog's html source codes, posting, adding and removing widgets etcetra.

WordPress.com is also close to that but such is not possible with many other blogging platforms yet.

Can you afford the blogging platform you are aiming to go for? If you can afford it now, can you afford it in a few months, a year or two years to come?

Choose a blogging platform you can comfortably operate for as long as you want.

In order to know which blogging platform is mostly suitable here, you might first need to identify which monetization method you'd like to use.

For example; if you are combining affiliate marketing, AdSense and sponsored posting, WordPress.org and blogger.com are likely the best options to choose from.

  7. How portable is that blogging platform?

Now is the time to think about where your blog can be in 2 to 3 years to come.

This can help in both upwardly and backwardly directed situations.

Why? Because now apparently your blog is already a hit and making you some money which are good enough reasons for you advance the blog further.

And again, it is possible your current blogging platform is no longer technically suitable for your blogging needs which again, is enough a good reason to switch the blogging platform.

    Overview: know about "what"

Well, let me give you some very brief info about WordPress and Blogger.

    • WordPress: overview

WordPress is a free open source software that lets you easily create a website, blog, or an online store.

WordPress came to exist since 2003 and between 2003 and now, WordPress is already powering over 41% of all websites on the internet.

    • Blogger: overview

Blogger is a free blogging service from Google. Blogger as a blogging platform, was originally established in 1999 by Pyra Labs and was later acquired by Google in 2003.

Blogger is a free blog hosting service that lets you create and manage your blog within the platform.

  2. Ownership - WordPress vs Blogger

    Ownership: know "who" owns "what"

Another thing you should consider when comparing one service to another is understanding the level of control you have on your property whilest using the service.

Now, let's compare WordPress and Blogger in this regard and quickly look at who owns the property.

    • WordPress: who owns the blog, website or the entire contents?

Because with WordPress, you need to buy a hosting plan with a hosting service provider and host your WordPress website or blog with them, you own your blog's or website's entire contents including pictures, videos, posts, audio files and every other content you may have therein.

You also can decide for how long you want your WordPress blog running or when you want to shutdown your WordPress website.

Additionally, if there is ever any issues with your current host, you can decide to switch your WordPress hosting site and move your WordPress site to another WordPress blog host.

    • Blogger: who owns the blog, website or the entire contents?

Because Blogger is a blogging service provided by Google, Google remains the rightful owner of the property while you remain the rightful owner of all the contents in your blogs hosted by Blogger. And that includes your blog posts including images, videos, audios, posts comments etcetra.

However, to keep the Blogger blogging platform sane, safe and free of spammy contents, Google monitors the platform and can ban, remove or restrict access to blogs that violate the policies of the platform at any time.

In essence, as long as you do not spam the Blogger platform, your blog with blogger can be online for as long as you want or for as long as Blogger blog hosting services still exists.

Moreso, because your blog contents are wholesomely yours, you can decide to switch or move your entire blogger blog contents to another blogging platform such as WordPress or any other similar blogging CMS.

Google does not and can never stop you from moving your blogger blog to another blog CMS.

    Conclussions:

    WordPress: with WordPress, you own the property and your blog or website entire contents. whereas;

Blogger: with Blogger, you own your entire blog contents but not the property.

  3. Structures and Procedures - WordPress vs Blogger

Structures and Procedures: understand how "what" runs or operates

Thirdly, to accurately compare WordPress vs Blogger, you need to know, briefly at least; how each of them are structured and operated.

By this, you would be able to decide which of the services actually suits your needs.

Okay. Let's now take on them one after another.

    • WordPress:

WordPress exists in two similar but entirely different flavours; 1. WordPress.org and 2. WordPress.com

WordPress.org: either you need a website, a blog, online store, forum... WordPress.org version is your best option of the available WordPress options as it is the WordPress version that allows you have absolute control over the customization of your blog, monitor your blog traffic via Google Analytics and to freely monetize your WordPress property in the best ways you see fit.

      To use WordPress.org, you need to;

      • Install WordPress on your hosting account
      • Setup WordPress on your domain name and
      • Upload and publish contents in your WordPress blog or website.

The processes are relatively lengthy and tideous but you could find carrying out each of the processes easy using some illustrated step by steps guides which are available all around the internet.

Some hosting providers such as Namecheap, Hostgator and their likes even provide one-click WordPress install wizard that installs WordPress on your hosting account in less than two minutes.

WordPress.com: similar to WordPress.org, WordPress.com allows you create and manage either or all of a website, a blog, an online store, a forum...

The only difference is, WordPress.com is more like a light version of WordPress.org because it does not allow you switch your hosting (which is taken care of by WordPress) and no serious modifications or customizations can be done on WordPress.com website or blog.

Also, unless you upgrade to any of the business plans available to WordPress.com, adverts and WordPress branding properties are automacally served on your website or blog.

Apart from those, WordPress.com platform is free and offers services such as hosting, the ability to have a custom domain name on your blog, integrating your blog with social media and popular features such as comments and polls without installing any additional WordPress plugins.

      To use WordPress.com, you need to;

      • Create a WordPress site or blog
      • Upload and publish contents in your WordPress blog or website.

    • Blogger:

Blogger exists only in one flavour. Thus; using Blogger blog is entirely free. No upgrades or premium versions available.

And with a single Blogger account, you can create as many blogs, websites, discussion groups, online forums, online stores... as you want.

      The only limitations with Blogger are;

      • Blogger officially supports only blogging - by this, to use Blogger for a website or forum for example; you need to understand coding.
      • There is very limited one-click installation options available.

      To use Blogger, you need to;

    Conclussions:

WordPress: this platform is made to suit all of blogging, forum, online store, discussion groups... needs out of the box.

Blogger: this platform is made purposefully only for blogging needs.

  4. Ease of Use - WordPress vs Blogger

Ease of Use: know how easy it is to run "what"

Mostly, when you decide to compare some services, you probably want to use either of these services. Right?

Good. When comparing WordPress vs Blogger, to compare the ease-of-use of both services before you take a winner is necessary.

Why? Because you would not want to subscribe to a service you cannot put into its full use.

Now, let's compare WordPress vs Blogger ease of use.

    • WordPress: ease of use

To setup a blog: to setup your blog on WordPress is simple and easy. All you may have to do is follow a simple step by step prompts until your blog is finally setup. Though, depending on which version of WordPress you have currently installed, the setup process may be trickier and the steps may be lengthy.

Adding posts and pages: although it usually would take a few try and error before you eventually get your WordPress pages to look beautiful, professional and exactly as you want it to look, to create a page on WordPress is really simpler and straight-forward especially if you are using one of WordPress page builder plugins. The same goes for when adding a blog post on your WordPress blog.

Theming: this is where you control how your blog looks and give your blog the template you desire most.

As expected, switching theme on WordPress is extremely easy. All you need to do is browse the WordPress theme repository and select a theme that suits your blog the most from thousands of the available WordPress theme. Though, if you prefer to use a custom WordPress theme instead, that could be a little more trickier.

Layout reset: the layout view allows you modify, remove, re-arrange or replace all or certain widgets that have been added to your WordPress blog.

Not much though, locating WordPress layout is hard. And adjusting the widgets is even more trickier if compared to Blogger's.

    • Blogger: ease of use

To setup a blog: just as with WordPress, to setup your blog on Blogger is simple and easy. All you may have to do is follow a simple step by step prompts until your blog is finally setup. This usually takes less than two minutes.

Adding posts and pages: this is likely the easiest thing to do with Blogger. To add a blog post on your Blogger is extremely easy and straight-forward. However, to create a static page on Blogger is really difficult for most bloggers using the Blogger platform.

Why? Because to create and publish standard and professionally-looking static page on Blogger blog requires coding of some sort. Thus; if you have no HTML, CSS and probably JS knowledge, do not publish a static page on Blogger or you don't achieve desired results.

Theming: first, with Blogger, you have very limited templates in Blogger blog built-in theme directory.

While you can use of any of the built-in Blogger templates, if you find any of them suitable for your needs, you also have the option to use any of the available free Blogger templates on the internet.

It should also be noted here that; while changing or uploading a template on Blogger is easier, manually customizing your Blogger template source codes is harder. - unless you find the right a - z guides you can follow, this is something you should not do.

Layout reset: the layout view allows you modify, remove, re-arrange or replace all or certain widgets which have been added to your Blogger blog blog.

Adding or modifying widgets on Blogger via the Blogger Layout view is extremely easy and straight-forward. You only need a few point-and-click and then drag-and-drop steps to do.

More so, Blogger Layout view is easy to locate and access.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: this platform is made for pro bloggers. Thus; you ought to have being blogging for a while or be ready to spending quality time learning about the platform over a period of time in order to utilize the platform.

Blogger: this platform is made for anyone. Thus; beginners and pro-bloggers can utilize this platform to its full potentials.

  5. Customization Options - WordPress vs Blogger

Customization Options: learn about how customizable "what" is

However beautiful any blog theme can seem, you may always need to modify and customize the look and feel of your website or blog to suits your taste. - and this is where the customization options of the platforms come to play.

Because apart from customizing your blog to suit your own taste, being able to customize every aspect of your blog allows you make your blog more friendly to browse and easy to interact with by your blog followers and readers.

By and large, you also need to compare the customization options of Blogger vs WordPress before you take your winner among the two blogging platforms.

First, let's look at WordPress customization options.

    • WordPress: customization options

Theme choices: WordPress currently has well over 8,000 free themes in WordPress themes repository which is accessible to you when you go to Appearance >> Themes from your WordPress dashboard.

This huge number of WordPress themes makes it possible for you to find a suitable theme for your WordPress blog or website regardless of your niche or disires. Although, frankly speaking, all the themes in WordPress repository are free to use; I personally don't find any of them attractive to use hence the reason I do not expect any serious blogger; beginner or pro, to use any of them.

Instead, you should look for a premium WordPress theme to buy at a reasonable price. Of course, there are hundreds of beautiful, easily customizable, and SEO-optimized WordPress themes available on the internet.

Customization choices: while most WordPress themes are flexible, professional and optimized; there is no single WordPress theme designer that can make all you want and need in a single theme. - you would always have the need to modify this or adjust that to your taste. Yes? Even if not much.

And when the need to adjust this or modify that in your WordPress theme arises, it is pretty easy to do. All you may need to do is go to Appearance >> Theme >> Customize and easily adjust your WordPress theme settings and data from there. You can even add custom CSS and JS right there!

Plugins and Added Features choices: with more plugins and widgets, you can easily add more features and functionalities to your blog and website.

With WordPress, it is extremely easy to add as many more features and functionalities to your WordPress blog and website as you want. All you'll ever need to do is go to Plugins >> Add New Plugins and then search for the plugins of your choice.

With WordPress's already huge liberary of plugins which already houses over 7,000 plugins (with more being added to the liberary nearly everyday), it is certain you would find the right plugin needed to be installed and add any features or functionalities you want added to your WordPress blog.

    • Blogger: customization options

Theme choices: Unlike WordPress, Blogger has very limited built-in themes which are readily available for use at no cost but then, there are hundreds of beautiful, premium Blogger templates which are available for free all around the internet.

Although if you want the best for your Blogger blog, I would recommend that you use any of the many paid, SEO-optimized premium Blogger templates that suits your blogging needs. You'll sure find hundreds of such options on the internet. Our very own premium Blogger templates are part of the options.

Customization choices: although several Blogger themes, especially the paid premium Blogger templates are flexible, professional and optimized; just as the case with WordPress, there is no single Blogger template designer that can make all you want and need in a single theme. - you would always have the need to modify this or adjust that to your taste. Yes?

And when the need to adjust this or modify that in your Blogger template arises, modifying your Blogger template is not as easy as the case with WordPress.

Fine. if your Blogger template supports it, you can use the Blogger template designer to adjust the Layouts including widths, heights, colours and others. But no serious modifications can be done on your Blogger template from Blogger template Layout customization view.

Therefore, in order to really modify your Blogger template, you'll need to know how to utilize CSS, a bit of JS and HTML.

Plugins and Added Features choices: with more plugins and widgets, you can easily add more features and functionalities to your blog and website.

With Blogger though, you have very very limited plugins or widgets available.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: this platform is extremely flexible, sophisticated and simplified at the same time hence it is a good option for bloggers that may want or need more than blogging at a reasonable cost.

Blogger: this platform is flexible, less sophisticated but simplified. It is a good option for bloggers that want and need all the basic blogging needs at no cost at all.

  6. Accessibility options - WordPress vs Blogger

Accessibility: understand how easily "what" can be accessed

Another factor you are expected to consider when comparing Blogger vs WordPress is the accessibility options.

This is particularly useful for those bloggers that may not have access to their PCs most of the times.

WordPress for example has an official and active mobile app that can be downloaded from either Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Once the WordPress app is installed on your smartphones, it means you can easily access your WordPress blog and website on the go.

So, just how accessible is WordPress and Blogger? Let's first look at WordPress.

    • WordPress: accessibility options

Mobile Apps access: as earlier hinted, WordPress has an official and active mobile app for smartphones. That means apart from being able to access and manage your WordPress blog and website from your PC, you can also get push notifications about comments, plugins and widgets updates, view your WordPress blog traffic stats... right there on your smartphones.

Additionally, you can also create and publish new posts or edit existing posts of your WordPress blog using the mobile app.

However, while you can accomplish many things on your WordPress blog using the mobile app, a few other things which are done from your browsers cannot be accomplished using the mobile app as of yet.

Mobile browsers support: while you can access your WordPress blog and website from your mobile browsers, just as the WordPress mobile app, certain features are only accessible to you on mobile browsers, you cannot really do much with them.

    • Blogger: accessibility options

Mobile Apps access: while it is not so popular among Bloggers, Blogger actually has an extremely disappointing mobile app.

So disappointing that even the basic features that are available in the Blogger mobile app are not so accessible or not entirely friendly to use in the mobile app.

Mobile browsers support: while Blogger Mobile app is extremely bad, Blogger's platform experience on mobile browsers is the best I have seen yet.

If you still think browsing Blogger platform on mobile browsers is bad, you have yet tried to access the Blogger platform on your mobile phones lately.

Either you are using Chrome browser, Opera, Firefox, Edge or any other browser; Blogger.com is so responsive, friendly and fast when it is being loaded from mobile phones.

Apart from the platform's responsiveness and friendliness on mobile browsers, Blogger also did a very good job by making sure that you can do everything you normally would on your PC's browsers right there on your mobile browsers.

From creating a new post to editing existing posts. You can add another widgets or remove existing widgets from the blog. You can even go as far as uploading a new template or edit every aspect of your already installed Blogger template - all these can be easily accomplished from your mobile browsers.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: best experience on PC, fair on mobile phones via WordPress mobile app.

Blogger: worst experience on mobile phones via Blogger mobile app, better experience on mobile phones when accessed on mobile browsers and best experience on PC.

  7. limitations - WordPress vs Blogger

Restrictions: know what limitations are imposed on "what"

Before you conclude on a winner when comparing Blogger vs WordPress, you are also expected to consider the restrictions or the limitations imposed on the users of these platforms.

Here, we would be looking at the limitations imposed on you, as a user of either of WordPress or Blogger.

    • WordPress: limits imposed on users:

WordPress.org: using WordPress.org, there is actually no limitations or restrictions imposed on you as a WordPress.org user. Because you own the properties; your entire WordPress website or blog contents are wholesomely yours to control and use as you see fit.

The only limitations there is for using WordPress.org is the extent and reach of your own imaginations and creativity.

WordPress.com: remember, as earlier discussed, WordPress.com is more like a light version of WordPress.org hence; there are limitations imposed.

Using WordPress.com, you are restricted from uploading any custom files such as plugins, themes, widgets or any customized scripts or codes that can further enhance your WordPress.com blog or website experience.

Again WordPress branded contents such as adverts and banners are also served on your WordPress.com blog or website.

Other than those, if you subscribe to any of the WordPress.com business plans, there is actually no limits to what you can posts on your WordPress.com website or blog.

    • Blogger: limits imposed on users:

Using Blogger, you are not allowed to posting pornographic contents such as video or audio files, nude pictures and the likes. Posts that encourages child abuse or rich in hateful speeches.

For a full list of content that are against Blogger fair usage, see Blogger.com terms and conditions here

Other than the contents listed from above, I am not sure there are any other limitations imposed on Blogger.com users.

Although, there are talks about Blogger limiting the size of posts you can publish on your Blogger blog but I disagree to that claim.

Why? Because I have had Blogger blogs that have had more than 10,000 published blog posts and some of those posts having up to around 20,000 words long! You can see that's huge!

So, if that claim is right, Blogger would not have accepted that. Even this post you are reading now, is on Blogger.com

So, to me, the only limitations there is for using Blogger.com as well; is the extent and reach of your own imaginations and creativity.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: choose WordPress.org if you can afford it. Go for WordPress.com if you can do fine with the limitations.

Blogger: Choose Blogger if you are a beginner or fresh blogger that wants to enjoy all the blogging needs. Or, choose Blogger if you are a pro-blogger that wants all the blogging needs without breaking your pocket or bank.

  8. Security - WordPress vs Blogger

Security: understand how secured "what" really is

When comparing WordPress vs Blogger, another factor worthy of consideration is understanding how secured the platforms are.

So, let's look at how secured exactly, your blogs on WordPress or Blogger are.

    • WordPress Security:

WordPress.com if your blog or website is with WordPress.com, you may not worry much since the performance and security of your blog or website are being taken care of by WordPress. And I am certain WordPress is that secure.

Although, I'll recommend that you still do routined backup of your WordPress blog. Also, do obtain, if not all; the most recent backed up files and keep or save them in several other safe vaults such as a hard disk drive. You may also consider uploading them in a cloud drive such as Google Drive, Mega or One Drive.

WordPress.org: if your blog or website is with WordPress.org, then you do need to worry much about the security and performance of your blog or website since those are part of your responsibilities being the properties owner.

But the good news is; there are plenty of security and performance plugins available for WordPress blog and website. All you need to do is browse for the plugins of your choice in the WordPress plugins directory, install the ones you need, set them up and up you go.

Meanwhile, be informed that some WordPress themes and a few other plugins can still hinder the functionalities of your installed WordPress security and performance plugins hence render your WordPress blog or website vulnerable to hackers hence the reason constant backup of your WordPress blog and website is a must.

    • Blogger Security:

Using Blogger, you have the added advantage of Google’s robust, secure platform hence you do not need to worry about managing your server’s resources, your blog security or performance.

But even then, I would recommend a routined backup of your blogger blog because you'll never know when Google would lock your blog probably as a result of sanctions or penalty for violating Blogger policies.

Unless you are sure no such would happen, you may not worry at all.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: your blog or website security level and strenght are determined by your choices and actions.

Blogger: your blog security is a priority to Google so whether you like it or not, want it or not; your blog is secured and protected.

  9. Earning Potential - WordPress vs Blogger

Earning Potential: know the monetization potentials of "what"

To many bloggers, successful blogging is more about how much I am worth blogging rather than how much fun I am catching blogging.

In view of this fact, you would want to go for a platform that lets you easily make money blogging or in a more simple language; go for the platform that effortlessly and fully supports the monetization channels you aim to explore as a blogger.

Now, let's compare the monetization potentials of Blogger vs WordPress.

    • WordPress: monetization potentials

As you may have learnt either from the previous sections of this page or from other sources, WordPress is an extremely flexible platform.

So, either you are aiming to create an online store or a membership forum or website, WordPress can accommodate your every needs.

In order words, either you wish to create a blog that would be monetized with Google AdSense, referral programs or some affiliate links, WordPress is a go-to platform. And if you prefer to create a website instead, and monetize it by offering subscription-based premium contents, an online store or an e-Commerce website; WordPress is still suitable for such use cases.

    • Blogger: monetization potentials

As far as monetization possiblities are concerned, unlike WordPress, Blogger is an extremely flexible, sophisticated and simple platform at the same time.

Blogger is likely the simplest blogging platform any blogger can monetize but, frankly speaking, Blogger has a minimal earning potentials to most Bloggers; if compared to WordPress.

Why? Because while anyone can, by means of point-and-click, create any website including online stores, e-Commerce website, subscription-based membership website on the WordPress platform. With Blogger, you do have to be an experienced programmer to do such on Blogger platform. Though, an alternative is if you can hire the services of a programmer, such is also possible with Blogger, too.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: WordPress is designed to fit any monetization means out of the box.

Blogger: apart from Google AdSense, affiliate marketing, referral programs, sponsored posting, paid reviews and perhaps; sales of few items that fit well on Blogger platform, with Blogger, you do have to rely on external tools or services to make Blogger fit well with most monetization means.

  10. Portability - WordPress vs Blogger

Portability: learn about how portable "what" really is

Another factor that is of common interest when people compare WordPress vs Blogger is "Portability".

So, just how portable is WordPress or Blogger?

Meanwhile, by "Portability"; we are referring to how movable your blogs on Blogger or WordPress is.

For example, you may decide that you want to move your blog from WordPress to Blogger. Or, you may also wish to migrate your blog from Blogger to WordPress.

Whichever the case, is it possible? And if it is possible, just how easy can you do that?

Let's take a look at WordPress Portability first, then Blogger.

    • WordPress: how portable is your blog on WordPress?

WordPress.com Portability: if you remember, I mentioned that WordPress.com is like a lite version of the WordPress.org.

If your blog is on WordPress.com, you cannot switch your host because your blog is hosted by WordPress itself. However, you can purchase a hosting plan and migrate your blog on WordPress.com to a WordPress.org version hence, you can switch your host at will.

With that said, WordPress is so portable that you can easily and effortlessly switch your blog host; say from Namecheap hosting platform to Hostgator. Or even migrate your blog to another CMS such as Blogger, Joomla, Magento, Typepad etc.

    • Blogger: how portable is your blog on Blogger?

With Blogger, it is only possible to migrate your blog from one CMS to another and not your host. Thus; once you have your blog setup on Blogger, the hosting would always be handled by Google. There is no option for switching from one host to another.

However, you can easily and effortlessly migrate your blog from Blogger to another CMS such as WordPress.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: WordPress has several straight-forward portability options.

Blogger: while Blogger is portable, Blogger's only straight-forward portability option is With WordPress. Thus; you can only easily move your blog on Blogger to WordPress. If you need to move the same blog to another CMS then, it would have to be done from WordPress.

  11. Supports - WordPress vs Blogger

    Supports: Blogger vs WordPress

What happens when you run into certain issues that can give you serious headache when using any of the platforms? You ask for supports. Right?

Support is an important factor that must be considered when compairing WordPress vs Blogger.

Now, in the next few lines, we would be talking about support options available to both WordPress and Blogger users.

    • WordPress: available support options

Regardless of either you are using WordPress.com or WordPress.org, since WordPress has paid options, you ordinarily should be expecting to getting premium supports for the products or services for which you have paid. Right?

Really, WordPress do actually make available, flexible support systems for all WordPress users. From general support forums and groups to individual dedicated suppprt forums for each plugin, themes and other features of the platform. These forums are so inclusive that any issues you may be having using WordPress or a particular plugin, theme or other WordPress features; someone somewhere already had that issue and it has being resolved and discussed on that forum already.

Most WordPress hosting providers also offer one-to-one support services via phones calls or IMs. Several plugins and themes developers also provide dedicated support services to their premium users.

And if none of those support options listed above is not a fit for you, Google is your friend. Several thousands of blogs are already discussing WordPress issues and solutions, you'll definitely find a detailed tutorial that fits your need on Google.

    • Blogger: available support options

Because Blogger is a one-player platform, the only official support you can get is provided by Google. To access the official Blogger help forum and group, you can click on the help link as could be seen from the Blogger vertical menu in the image below.

Blogger Support - WordPress vs Blogger

Meanwhile, it should be remembered that Blogger is absolutely free to use, hence; Google does not offer any one-to-one or premium suppprt for Blogger users.

It should also be remembered that the suppprt you can get from the official Blogger help forums and groups would mostly work for you, only if you use any of the Blogger's default templates.

However, apart from the official suppprt provided by Google for Blogger users, there are several thousands other articles on the internet that already discussed all Blogger related issues you may be having. Simply enter your query on Google and you would be amazed at how many solutions you would get.

Also, if you have opted to using premium Blogger template on your Blogger blog, you can still get one-to-one suppprt for your blog as most premium Blogger template providers such as iVTemplates also offer premium support services for their customers. Simply reach out to your Blogger template maker and ask for help.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: you get deserved premium supports based on your price.

Blogger: you get deserved basic supports for not paying a price.

  12. pricing - WordPress vs Blogger

    Cost Implications: WordPress vs Blogger

Even after you may have checked all other factors and you have finally settled to start your blog with either WordPress or Blogger, one more factor that could thwart your plans and suddenly gets you rethinking your options is the cost.

Because you would not want to see your surprisingly succeeding blog abruptly disconnected from the world wide web as a result of some financial constraints, strive to understand how much it would actually cost you to run your blog on either of WordPress or Blogger before finalizing your decision.

Now, in a few lines, let us compare the cost of running a blog on Blogger vs any version of WordPress, in a straight twelve months period.

    • WordPress: pricing for twelve months

WordPress.com: to host your blog on WordPress.com is entirely free though, you are restricted from doing so many things on the blog or website. These things include customizing the blog, installing custom themes or plugins among others.

While WordPress.com is entirely free to use, optional business plan subscriptions are available. When you subscribe to any of the business plans, you would have added advantages and options for your blog and website hosted on WordPress.com

WordPress.com basic operating cost for a year; twelve months period is: $0 dollars.

WordPress.org: because hosting and domain are a compulsory requirement for any WordPress website or blog on the WordPress.org platform, there is no absolutely free options available for blogs or websites hosted on WordPress.org.

However, you can still get discounted WordPress.org offers which would include domain and hosting at reasonable cost prices.

WordPress.org basic operating cost for a year; twelve months period is: $75 to $140.

    • Blogger: pricing for twelve months

Unless you wish to accessing your Blogger blog via a custom domain and perhaps, if you would like to use a premiummium Blogger template for your Blogger blog, you may never have to spend a penny on your blog hosted with blogspot.

With that said, to have your blog running on Blogger which is also known as Blogspot platform is absolutely free.

And on top of that, you can modify, tweak, customize, design or do anything you feel like with your Blogger blog to the extent you know of - just be sure you do not cross the limits by posting contents that are against Blogger content policies.

Blogger.com basic operating cost for a year; twelve months period: $0 dollars.

    Conclussions: overall

WordPress: this is a platform that definitely pays back every single penny invested on blogs and websites hosted on the platform provided your investments are accompanied by necessary efforts.

Blogger: this is a platform that allows you groom ideas and put your ideas to test without any fear of loosing anything.

The keywords contained in the definition are;

  • Weblog
  • Blog

    1. identify your skills

As a person, you must have a few skills. Skills are not necessarily those learned. It could be your naturally gifted skills.

      You could be;

      • a brilliant writer...
      • a good speaker...
      • a fabulous artist...

These are skills anyone could be naturally be endowed with. And the good thing is; the list is endless.

      Speaking of conventional skills, you could be;

    2. make your skills the subject matter for your blog

        Let me give you an instance;

Let's assume you are a good cook. You can focus your blog on foods and delicacies.

        And under foods and delicacies, you would be having subjects similar to;

        • Chineese breads and other edibles
        • Nigerian foods and delicacies
        • Continental foods and delicacies
        • French cuisines and dishes
        • The best kitchen utensils
        • etc...

The list could be endless! And the topics under each subject is definitely too numerous to count.

So, the end result; your blog would become a source for really fascinating headlines in that niche for a really long time to come. - and that's a win for you and your blog!

    3. decide what content type you would be focusing

      Here is an instance;
if as a fresh blogger starting up in the automobile niche, you would be having difficulties at producing and uploading automobile related video content in your blog; instead of hindering your blog posts consistencies, focus text content type until you are able to comfortably push videos in your blog.

    4. always prepare quality contents for your readers

    5. optimize your blog posts for SEO.

      Yes. It is actually possible to make a single blog post worth the value of a thousand blog posts. However, to understand how that could be made possible, you need to first understand a few basic terms which are;

      • Discover: the search engines first discover the urls (blogs and websites, PDF documents, image files etc) on the internet. - you can directly influence the process at this stage.

      • Understand: the search engines learn about the content of the blogs and websites that have been discovered on the internet then ensure what was learnt about the content is understood. - again, you can directly influence the process at this stage.

      • Organize: the search engines organize each blog's and website's content by their importance by systemically putting the most important webpage or document first and then the next, and then the next... - you cannot directly influence the process at this stage.

The Process to Optimitize your Blog for Better Visibility in Search Engines - In Simple Terms

      1. make your blog discoverable by search engines

    6. make posting to your blog a regular thing

Lastly in this section, ensure you make posting to your blog a regular thing.

This, I think is self explanatory. Right?

      Okay.

    1. allows you push for the right plans

      Here is an instance;

    2. helps you spend only on what's necessary

How Can You Make Money from your Blog As A Blogger?

I have seen many people ask this same or similar questions a thousand times over.

Although, that is not a surprise to me. People ask questions when they are baffled or confronted with what they no nothing or so little about.

However, what surprises me, is knowing that some bloggers do not know how to make money from their blogs or the best revenue channels to key into.

Well, it is okay and understandable if you don't know the best ways to monetize your blog. But not knowing how to start making money from your blog? That is very bad! I mean, if you don't know how to start making money from your blog, why did you start blogging in the first place!? For fun?

In this section, I would be revealing and discussing a few easy and proven ways to start making money from your blog, starting this very minutes provided your blog is prepared for it and that you act now.

14 Easy Ways to Start Making Money from your Blog - Only "Proven" Ones

  1. Monetize your Blog with Google AdSense

You can find a huge list of products to promote from:

We already have a tutorial tailored for beginner affiliate marketers. You can find the guides here:

The process for getting paid reviews post published on your blog is similar to sponsored post means of making money from your blog which is later discussed below here.

While most bloggers may confuse this for review sites, this is a slightly different monetization method than a review site with affiliate links.

Different in the sense that, instead of finding products to promote in the case of affiliate method, you get to try out products related to your niche for free, write an indepth review of the products and get paid for writing and publishing that review on your blog.

In order to get paid reviews, you can approach companies on your own to ask about doing paid reviews for their products. And if that is not okay by you, you can get to companies through some websites such as PayPerPost that help connect bloggers like you with businesses that may be interested in doing paid reviews.

You can just secure a domain, build a professional blog or website on it, pull traffic to the domain and then flip it.

If you do not already have enough traffic to selling those domains as frequent, there are websites like Flippa that serve as auction sites and brokers for selling websites.

You can register with Flippa and list your websites and blogs for sale there.

Businesses can reach you to have a sponsored post published on your blog for a fee. You can also make it known to your readers and followers that you accept sponsored posts.

Meanwhile, to get started at this, it is recommended that you put together a one-page media kit that details your traffic stats, social media followings, audience demographics, and any other data that will make your site more appealing to advertisers.

While at it, be sure that you are law abiding and fair by clearly indicating a post as being sponsored whenever you publish one.

  7. Get Paid for Accessing Members Only Page

By creating a premium members only page where exclusive contents such as more detailed and illustrated blog posts are published, audio, video, PDF and other exclusive files are shared; you get to earn some added money off your blog.

How to Choose A Blogging Platform that is Right for You

From the previous section, I list some of the most recommended blogging platforms for beginners in the blogging sphere. But, what if you are not a fresh blogger? Or, what if you are a fresh blogger but having all the resources and qualities of a problogger?

How then can you choose a blogging platform that is right for you based on your status?

In this section, I would be talking about things you should consider before choosing a blogging platform to start with so that you may possibly make an informed decision in choosing a blogging platform you may never regret going for in the first place.

As you may have rightly learnt, blogging is much more than just writing or posting photos. Blogging is now as good as a career for many. For some, blogging is their business even it was not in their blog's earliest days.

So, similar to a business or a career, to start one; you might need to find a solid ground for your career or business. Not just that; you'll need a business or career you can easily scale with.

- and that's exactly what "starting your blog on the right platform helps you with". It helps you build a solid ground for your blog and also helps you grow with the blog easily.

Starting your blog on the right platform helps you build a solid ground for your blog and also helps you grow with the blog easily.

How to Decide Which Blogging Platform is Right for You

  1. Consider the blogging platform ease of use

Because others may find a blogging platform easy to use while you find it difficult, you'll need to confirm how easy that blogging platform can get for you.

A few of those things that can help you know if a blogging platform is or could be easy for you to use are:

    • Does using the platform requires some terms seemingly strange to you? Terms like "hosting". Do you understand what it means and how well can you go with it?
    • Do you require some knowledge seemingly strange to you in order to fully utilize the platform? Something like "MySQL" mods?

The list could be endless but that's a tip for you.

  2. How accessible is that platform?

Regardless of what blogging could mean to you, it is something you should be able to do comfortably and conveniently anywhere and on nearly any device; your PC, smartphones, games etcetra.

Why? Because you could be on a transit and come across some interesting events you should blog about. You could just capture the event and post the pictures and videos of the events on your blog right that instant. - that's just an example of several of such events possiblities.

I know for a fact that you can access, modify or edit and publish a hundred percent of your blogger blog dashboard in a very friendly and responsive manner on any device that has access to the internet. That includes editing the blog's html source codes, posting, adding and removing widgets etcetra.

WordPress.com is also close to that but such is not possible with many other blogging platforms yet.

  3. How customizable is that blogging platform?

An extremely customizable blogging platform allows you modify your blog to any lenght you want. That way, you can satistfy your own taste of how you want your blog look like in design and you can also satistfy your audience with everything they need on the blog so that they may easily read and interact with your blog.

  4. What are the limits of using that platform?

Another thing you should consider is the limitations imposed on you as a user.

Even if you are a developer using a blogging platform that has many limitations imposed, there is only little you can do.

Some platforms only allows you upload certain size or number of images while some only allow certain video formats. Some blogging platforms do not allow tampering with the source codes of the blog.

Depending on what you would be doing with your blog, you would be needing to check this to know if that blogging platform is right for you.

  5. How affordable is that blogging platform to you?

For now, forget about where your blog can be in 2 to 3 years to come. Rather, think about what your finances can look like in few months to come.

Can you afford the blogging platform you are aiming to go for? If you can afford it now, can you afford it in a few months, a year or two years to come?

Choose a blogging platform you can comfortably operate for as long as you want.

  6. Consider the blogging platform monetization options

If you aim to make money from your blog, you would be needing to choose a blogging platform that actually allows you make money easily.

In any case, you would be needing to consider a blogging platform that allows you easily migrate or move your entire blog from that blogging platform to another blogging platform whenever the need to move on arise.

Unbiased Comparisons: WordPress vs Blogger

  1. Overview: know about "what"

Actually, before you begin to compare one service to another, you do need to know some basic info about those services, at the very least.

    WordPress: with WordPress, you own the property and your blog or website entire contents. whereas;

Blogger: with Blogger, you own your entire blog contents but not the property.

      To use WordPress.org, you need to;

      • Register a domain name
      • Buy a hosting plan

      To use WordPress.com, you need to;

      • Visit WordPress.com to create an account
      • Register a domain name (optional)
      • Create a WordPress site or blog
      • Upload and publish contents in your WordPress blog or website.

    • Blogger:

Blogger exists only in one flavour. Thus; using Blogger blog is entirely free. No upgrades or premium versions available.

And with a single Blogger account, you can create as many blogs, websites, discussion groups, online forums, online stores... as you want.

      The only limitations with Blogger are;

      • Blogger officially supports only blogging - by this, to use Blogger for a website or forum for example; you need to understand coding.
      • There is very limited one-click installation options available.

      To use Blogger, you need to;

    Conclussions:

WordPress: this platform is made to suit all of blogging, forum, online store, discussion groups... needs out of the box.

Blogger: this platform is made purposefully only for blogging needs.
